What Is Restorative Yoga?

Restorative Yoga is a gentle, meditative style of yoga where each posture is held for several minutes using props like bolsters, blocks, and blankets. The goal isn’t to stretch the muscles — it’s to release tension in the connective tissues and ligaments, encouraging your body to let go at a deep, structural level. This slow approach activates the parasympathetic nervous system — the body’s rest-and-digest mode — allowing you to drop out of “fight or flight” and into a space of calm and recovery.
