Workplace Yoga and Wellness Options
Chair and desk yoga suits workplaces with limited time or floor space. It can be done in ordinary work clothes using a stable chair and a small amount of room.
A class may include movement for the neck, shoulders, back, wrists and hips, followed by simple breathing or relaxation. It can be a short workplace break, part of a conference or a regular class.
Mat-based corporate yoga combines accessible postures, breathing and guided relaxation. The pace can be gentle or more active, depending on the group’s experience and preferences.
Clear instructions and alternatives allow beginners and experienced participants to practise together. Yoga mats and props are included where required for the chosen format.
Restorative yoga uses bolsters, blankets and blocks to support the body with very little physical effort. It is well suited to smaller groups and staff wellbeing days where a quieter, less active session is preferred.
Slow breathing, meditation or sound healing can also be included. This format needs adequate floor space and time to arrange the equipment.
Not every workplace session needs to be physical. Guided meditation, practical breathing, Yoga Nidra and sound healing can be booked on their own or combined with yoga. If you are unsure, we’ll help you choose what suits the group and setting.
What Employees Can Expect
The content varies with the chosen format, but employees may be guided through:
- Accessible movements for the spine, shoulders, neck, wrists and hips
- Standing, seated or mat-based yoga postures
- Alternatives for different levels of mobility and experience
- Slow breathing or other suitable pranayama practices
- Guided relaxation, meditation or Yoga Nidra
- Restorative positions or sound healing when included in the program
Participants are encouraged to move within a comfortable range and use the alternatives offered.

Yes. Live online sessions are available for remote teams. Hybrid sessions may also be possible when some employees are together onsite and others are joining remotely. The room and technology should be discussed in advance so that everyone can see and hear the instructions clearly.
No. Sessions can be designed for complete beginners and mixed-level groups. Instructions are explained clearly, and alternatives are offered so participants can work at an appropriate level.
Sessions usually run for 30 to 60 minutes and can be scheduled before work, at lunchtime or after work, subject to availability. Chair yoga requires less setup than a mat-based or restorative class.
Small and larger groups can be accommodated, but the room must suit the number of participants and the type of class. Chair yoga needs a stable chair and room to move around it. Mat-based and restorative classes need clear floor space. Send an approximate group size and a description or photograph of the room when enquiring.
Yes. Yoga mats and props are included where required for the chosen session. Comfortable clothing is best for mat-based yoga. Chair yoga can usually be done in ordinary work clothes, although restrictive clothing and high heels may limit movement. Participants may bring their own mat if preferred.
The class may include movement for areas affected by desk-based work, accessible postures, breathing and guided relaxation. Meditation, Yoga Nidra, restorative yoga and sound healing can also be included.
Many people can participate using suitable alternatives, but a group class cannot assess or treat an individual medical condition. Employees should follow advice from their health professional, mention relevant limitations before class and stop if something causes pain or other concerning symptoms. Some classes may not be suitable for everyone.
